Elie Saab fall 2014 Haute Couture Runway

Elie Saab's haute couture show has been the one to watch for many many years, and this one certainly does not disappoint. Saab lined the back of the runway with chandeliers. The colors refracted in those chandeliers provided the palette: first blue, then pink, next blush, followed by black, white, and lavender. This collection boast Saab's love of pearls. Tahitian blue for a navy chiffon goddess dress; white pearls on a long-sleeve princess gown; champagne-colored ones for a strapless cocktail number in a neutral shade of pink. My favourite is the Bridal Gown finale. White on White, the ball gown style never gets old.

As a couturier myself, each gown amazes me. How many hours it took to make, how beautiful the fabric he chose and so many different techniques were used to create these work of art. The different layers of tulle, lace and organza give edgy look to the classic simple silhouette. Elie Saab inspire the modern bride who wants to look sexy but still classy and feminine.

Sherry and Oliver

So... I got married last December 2013. We had 5 months to plan the wedding and I must admit, sometimes I wish I had more time. However, thanks to the super organised venue, helpful tips and moral and financial :) support from family and friends, me and my husband Oliver had the best time of our life.

First question people asked was, "Are you making the dress?".  Well, I know this gorgeous, multi talented designer, who knows me, and flexible with time, of course I'm making my own wedding dress. With the help of my fairy godmother, Joan White. Can't do it without her, and I probably ended up with 3 unfinished gown a night before the wedding.

Having made hundreds of wedding dress, I keep falling in love with different silhouettes, lace, etc etc. So when it comes to my dress, I kept changing my mind, and the fear itself stopped me from starting the gown. I guess now I know why  some brides take so long in signing the contract. What if, what if??

Finally, 3 months before the wedding, I decided on a bodice, neckline and silhouette. One sided strap, sweetheart and A-Line. Classic, timeless and suit my short upper body. I keep changing my mind (again) on the lace, so in the end, I decided to use them all. Talk about luxury. The main material is Ivory Silk Dupion, Ivory Silk Tissue Organza and Silk White Bridal Tulle.

I know I wanted some sort of leafy peplums on the skirt, asymmetrical but subtle so it doesn't look too busy. I built the skirt in stages, adding more tulle and lace as I see fits. Lots and lots and lots of hand stitching. As it took shape, I fell in love with the gown, maybe that's why it's hard to stop adding. This is another time when I needed the keen eye of the mighty fairy godmother. Again, thanks Joan.

To finish the look, I added 3D flowers on the edge of the veil, to match this gorgeous hair piece made by Embellish-hats team. It's my take on the modern midsummer night's dream.

At the end of the day, I kicked my heels off and party all night long. The inside petticoat (with a hoop) was great. I was able to move a lot, without getting skirt tangled between my legs. And also, let the air in to cool off the summer air.

Hope you enjoy the photos. I might be a bit biased, choosing photos where I looked good :P

Sydney Bride Magazine

Our lovely gowns are featured in Sydney BRIDE magazine (December 2013 issue). I know it's a bit of a late post, but the images are so gorgeous, I can't help showing them off.

"Belle", tea-length frock, Pink Silk Organza and silk white Tulle. Embroidered motifs of roses and twines are appliqued on, to create subtle slimming illusion both front and back bodice. The beautiful wide brim hat is by Embellish Atelier. Peter Collie the photographer did a fantastic job capturing the mood and lighting. Rumour says, the couple (whom just met that day) actually went on a date after the photo shoot. Romantic much?

"Abigail", A-line full length gown with train. Antique bodice with mushroom embroidered tulle applique, cream satin, Tea-rose and cream silk organza. Delicate hand beaded 3D-flowers scattered throughout the bodice and skirt creating interest from all different angles. Can be worn with a separate petticoat (with hoop) for a ball-gown look. I love love love the colour combo, because they look good in a lot of different skin and hair tone.

These two gowns are perfect for a more laid back wedding theme, like a garden wedding, vineyard, barnyard or beach theme. Flow-y, lots of movements, very versatile and super beautiful.

Laura and Stew

It was a very wet November. Almost every day of the month was poured with rain and weekend were hit the hardest. I was crossing my fingers for this gorgeous couple, Laura and Stew and their very cute girl, Astrid, especially because they were planning an outdoor reception at Ballast Point Park (Birchgrove). Luckily, the sky hold off for a few hours, just in time for the couple to exchange vows and beautiful moment in front of families and friends.

Laura's gown is classic princess line bodice with A-line skirt. Slightly gathered Chiffon layers create beautiful soft and flowy effect. I love Laura's scooped V front and Low U back neckline which are very flattering. The bejewelled motif on the ruesched waistband finishes the look nicely.

Astrid gorgeous flower girl dress is a bit more playful, hence the layers of tulle. She has matching bejewelled waistband with Laura's gown and by the look of it, she had a lot of fun rocking that dress.

Congratulations to "Milk and Honey" photography, for snapping these precious moments. Laura and Stew's easy going attitude and laid back Wedding were captured perfectly and I'm sure will be cherished by this beautiful family forever.

Natalia and John

Natalia chose Sherry Bridal's "Daisy" gown to wear on her Wedding day.
The gown has feminine lines; Strapless neckline adorned with 3D flowers, Ruesched Silk organza on the waist, A-line flared skirt with gorgeous Frill Bustle, and 3D beaded flowers scattered throughout the skirt.

I love the low back feature of this gown, the 3D flowers soften the necklines. Sexy, yet in a beautiful way. The multilayers of Chantilly lace and silk organza skirt create depth and whispering intricacy. The images where Natalia and John are dancing are simply breathtaking. Flowing ruffles and swishy skirts, very romantic and lovely.

I also love Natalia's gorgeous natural make up and understated hair-do. All referring to Natalia's laid-back approach to the whole wedding planning saga. She looks relaxed, happy and super beautiful.

Natalia and John, we wish you a lifetime of happiness.
