Sydney Wedding, Gown Magazine 2013

the Amaryliss

Hi all..

Here are some photos of "Sherry" Bridal Couture's spread in the latest Gowns Magazine. It's attached to Sydney Wedding magazine, but if don't live in NSW, you can buy the Gowns magazine on its own.

This is "Amaryllis" first photoshoot. The corset bodice is made out of unique and vintage Japanese fabric. It's unique because the embroidery look is actually tiny little knots, enhanced with lustrous shade of whites and silver threads. The skirt is layers of draped silk organza, giving the effect of movement and elegance. The back view is actually more dramatic then the front, so I must organise another photoshoot to show it off.

I was actually present at the article photoshoot and met all the lovely stylist, hair & make up artist and the beautiful  and friendly models. So to see the final artwork in glossy magazine feels like it was a great day's work.

Natasha and Rob

Tash and Rob tied the knot on a beautiful day, in Palm Beach, NSW. After a weak of heavy wind and rain, the sky open to a bright blue day and what turned out to be a perfect day.

Tash wore a gorgeous couture figure hugging lace dress but swishy and flared at the hem, and a matching personalised veil. I particularly love her detail sleeves and sexy low back.

Think of "The Hampton's", "Revenge", and "Carolyn Bessette Kennedy".
Tash exudes elegance and bubbly personality and the same time.

The groom shed a little tear watching Tash walked down the aisle, and Tash just can't wait to start their life together.

Oh, Tash and Rob get to re-live the wedding party, because they are having a second ceremony in The Netherlands, so she gets to wear the dress again. Now that's money well spend.

Marchesa's gone Bollywood

I'm a firm believer that every dress (especially on special occasion), should tell a story. These frocks are from Marchesa's Spring 2013 collections, and they speak louder then words.
Colours, Embellishments, silhouettes, Drapings, Layerings and so on, will bring out your personality and your edgy side.
The Collection itself got a mixed review, definitely not your normal mainstream fashion, but I personally love all these dresses.
To me, they give inspirations and encourage me to think outside the box.

Well done to the Marchesa's duo Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman..

Sydney Bride Spring Edition

Hi All !!

Sherry Bridal Couture sample gown 'Lauren', made it to the cover of Sydney Bride magazine this spring edition.  The dress, colour, styling and everything exudes 'spring'. It's their couture-bridal gown special edition, so to all the bride-to-be out there, this magazine is a must have. 150+ gowns to choose from, it's bigger and more selection then any bridal boutique.

Finally have the magazines in my hands, countless time flicking through, and I'm still amazed by how pretty all my gowns look in glossy pages. I have seen my designs in magazines before, but it feels different when it is my own label. Which reminds me, it's one year since I decided to plunge in to the world of small business. Happy Anniversary to myself and my team. Couldn't have done it without you all.

Mad about Hats

27 Nurses walk, The Rocks

The beautiful Catherine Kelly and her team (from Embellish Hats) has been busy setting up their pop up shop at the Rocks. They have hats, fascinators, silk flowers, brooches, head-piece and even tiaras to suit every occasions.

This week, the theme is 'Bridal', and my 'Lauren' sample simply grace the window. Even though there's a lot happening on the dress, you can still wear a bejewelled fascinator (currently on the dummy) or a diamante comb, or simply some lovely silk flowers to adorn your hair.

Every girl need to visit her shop and just be mesmerised by the collections. The girls are so lovely and helpful so don't hesitate to ask their opinions on your future event's needs. She has regular workshops in her Rozelle studio, which resembles a closet full of knick knacks. Worth the visit and experience.

Julia & Thomas

This wedding is a special and personal one to me, because the bride is my dear sister. There are 4 girls in the family, and she's the first cab of the rank. Naturally, as a wedding gift, I made her wedding dress. Of course she was one of my best client, because she trusted me completely with the look, and I wanted to make her the prettiest bride ever (as I do with all my clients :D )

There's more to the dress then meets the eye. Simple graceful fishtail silhouette, oyster dupion silk underlay, ivory Italian lace, beaded detachable waistband and Julie's handmade brooch bouquet completed the look. 3 words, Stunning, Classic, Beautiful.

Julie had "Bright Colours" as her wedding theme, so when I  made the three sisters's (including me) frocks, I was inspired with precious stone colours, hot pink, dashing purple and turquoise with silver lace bonding all three looks.

It was a beautiful perfect day for everyone, and I wish my sister and our new brother in law, a very happy marriage.

Katie and Daniel's One Fun Day

A designer's best reward is to see her creation looking 'hot to trot' on the Big Day.

Katie is one customer who had a 'Fun' theme for her wedding. Her gorgeous couture wedding gown was designed to make sure she can shimmy on the dance floor, while still looking elegant and ethereal for the church ceremony.

The gown has delicate Chantilly lace all over and ruched silky tulle overlay. We had to built the dress in such a way that even an experienced couturier scratched her head. Like engineering a megastructure building, the dress had to be handled with extra care but bit extreme precision. Hours and hours of hand rusching and hand finishing poured into it.

The mermaid shape really complement Katie's petite figure. It made her looked extra tall. So for all the petite ladies out there, do check out this shape, but be careful with where the lines started.

Katie's veil is to-die-for. It has tiny little beaded flowers and looked super cute for her pixie hair cut.

I have to say major thanks to Rebecca and Karl Welsch from Welschphotography, for capturing the precious moments of the day.

an Italian affair

Sue wanted an all-over lace dress, but not your typical Chantilly floral lace. So, we sourced this beautiful scallop lace straight from Italy.
The result, beautiful classic clean line dress, but unique and classy.
All the lines were meticulously matched and moulded. A lot of the lace work had to be done with hand stitching, true couture works. It reminds me of the phrase, "blood, sweat and tears".
It's all worth-it at the end because the dress looks flawless.
Sue herself is really easy going and enthusiastic everytime she came for fitting. She is a dream client to have.
The dress did not need a lot of beading, just a lot of Sue's beautiful personality.

xx Sherry
